Mildew is a slippery, slimy and unattractive fungus that thrives on many household surfaces, including your painted siding.  Warm, wet and humid environments with lots of moisture make an excellent breeding ground for this unsightly foe.  Fortunately, although it’s very unattractive, mildew is not a source of wood decay like other problems.  However, if it’s not properly removed and simply masked over with a coat of paint it will grow through.
